Valentines for Carolyn Hastings
Thanks to everyone that signed a valentine and for the donations.
The Valentines were delivered to Elisha Brown, Carolyn's kindergarten teacher.
The donation $562.35 was deposited in "The Carolyn Hope Fund" at Home Federal
Bank in Seymour on Feb 06. Ms Brown said she really appreciates the valentines, donations and most of all the care that everyone
shows. There is a definite need for the family. Ms Brown says Carolyn is doing better, she has a long road of recovery ahead
of her.
For those who we didn't get to talk to, here is the story.
Knox News Sentinel ran the story of Carolyn.
She is 6 years old and has a rare autoimmune disorder. Around November 2007,
she began having a hard time walking and told her parents her legs hurt. Be December, Carolyn couldn't sit down, dress herself
or even go to the bathroom unassisted.
She was in a lot of pain. After several tests, eventually doctors came up
with the unusual diagnosis. She is undergoing physical therapy and is taking steroids and a medication to suppress her immune
system. Because of this she has to be home schooled. On January 31 she had to be rushed to East Tn Children's Hospital . They
had to put a feeding tube into her. They then flew her to Children's Hospital in Cincinnati.
Carolyn's teacher is collecting valentines and donations thru Feb 14th,
she will deliver them to Carolyn on Valentines Day. She hoped to collect 1000 valentines, she has received well over
that, even from other states. The Dad just got a new job, and is
on unpaid leave, the Mom had a shoulder injury and is out of work,
there are 3 other children in the family, and they are on Tenn Care. If You wish to still make a donation, here is the address:
